José Cózar

José Cózar Viedmawas born in Baeza on June 6, 1.944.
His academic training, with an innate predisposition to drawing initially, pincel to the brush in his youth and to the spatula later, always pursued aesthetics and today it can be said that he is a master in the land of artists, Valencia, city in which he resides since 1955, although his stay in Baeza is very frequent during the year.

The Baezano painter obtained his first official recognition at the age of 19 with the First Prize of the XIX National Exhibition of Linares and, since then, the awards, recognitions and tributes have taken place during his long artistic career. The number of works carried out is incalculable, reaching up to 200 paintings per year in their stage of maturity.

Su pintura es tan trepidante como espontánea, tan sincera como penetrante, sus obras pueden ser contempladas en museos, diputaciones, ayuntamientos o universidades como son la Excelentísima Diputación de Barcelona, Museo Histórico municipal de Valencia, Museo municipal de Segorbe, Museo Etnográfico de Jávea, Ayuntamientos de Jaén, Villajoyosa y Baeza….

Some books published on his work are "La vida y obra de Cózar", by Manuel Real Alarcón, "Cózar" by Marien Rovalo and "One Hundred Years Later... El fauvismo en la pintura de Cózar" by Lorenzo Berenguer and Beatriz Vázquez.

As we have mentioned before, there are numerous distinctions that mark his professional life, among which it is worth mentioning the Art Cheer of the Baezana Cultural Association, Big Brother of the Brotherhood of the Holy Christ Veracruz de Baeza.
